ANU may guarantee incoming exchange students accommodation in one of their Halls, Colleges, Lodges or approved accommodation (but not your preference) subject to applying and completing formalities by the required deadlines.

Applying for accommodation at ANU is a separate process from applying for exchange or study abroad program. 

ANU has a number of accommodation options available from catered to self-catered and individual dorms to multi-share apartments. The type of accommodation that you want will impact on the amount you will pay.

How much will it cost to go on exchange to ANU? 

From 10 May 2024, the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs announced that student visa applicants will need to show they have a minimum of 29,710 AUD to cover the cost of living for a year in Australia. 

In addition to this amount, you'll also need to consider establishment costs such as buying furniture, paying a rental bond and setting up electricity, gas and mobile phone accounts, as well as other expenses such as visa and medical fees, tuition fees, return airfares, and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Remember that exchange rate variations may also affect your budget.

Health insurance

An Australian student visa requires you to have (OSHC) for the full duration of your exchange (though students from Belgium, Norway, and Sweden may be exempt). OSHC is a government requirement and cannot be waived with off-shore health insurance and/or comprehensive travel insurance.
